Dr. Shu Yang

Dr. Shu Yang is an Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship in the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University. Shu earned her Ph.D in Business from Baruch College (City University of New York, Graduate Center). Her research focuses on social entrepreneurship, startup accelerators, and early-stage investors. She has published in top entrepreneurship journals and has presented her research at many nationally recognized conferences, including the Academy of Management Conference, the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference, the Social Entrepreneurship Conference, and the Sustainability, Ethics, and Entrepreneurship Conference. Shu is the recipient of the 2021 Best Social Entrepreneurship Paper Award at the Academy of Management Annual Conference, of the 2021 Lawrence A. Stessin Prize for Outstanding Scholarly Publication at Hofstra, and of the 2020 Dean’s Research Award in the Frank G. Zarb School of Business. Aside from entrepreneurship research, Shu has extensive teaching experience. She started teaching management and entrepreneurship courses in 2013. Currently, she is the Course Captain of ENTR 115-Introduction to Global Entrepreneurship, wherein she teaches students how to develop their own startup ventures using lean startup methodology.
